ഇഷ്ടാക് പേള്മാന്
എന്ന വിശ്വവിഖ്യാതനായ വയലിനിസ്റ്റ്
ഒരു ഇസ്റയെലി അമേരിക്കനാണ്. ജനനം
1945 ആഗറ്റ് 31, ഇസ്റ്യേലിലെ ടെല് അവീവില് .
പോളണ്ടില് ജനിച്ച ജ്യൂതദമ്പതികളായ ചൈം
ഷോഷാന പേള്മാന് 1935 നോടടുത്ത് ബ്രിട്ടീഷ്
പാലസ്റ്റൈനിലേക്കു കുടിയേറിയവര് ആയിരുന്നു. ഇഷ്റ്റാക്കിനു
നാലു വയസ്സായിരുന്നപ്പോള്
പോളിയോ ബാധിച്ചു കാലുകളുടെ
ചലനശേഷി നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു. തുടര്ന്ന്
കാലില് ബ്രെസസും പിന്നീട് ക്രചസും
വെച്ചായിരുന്നു നടന്നത്. റേഡിയൊയില്
ഒരു വയലിന് സംഗീതം കേട്ടാണ് ഇഷ്റ്റാക്കിനു വയലിനില് താല്പര്യം ഉണ്ടായത്. മൂന്നു വയസ്സുള്ളപ്പോള് വയലിന് പഠിക്കാന് ഒരു സ്കൂളില് ചേര്ക്കാന് ശ്റമിച്ചപ്പൊള് അയാള്ക്ക് ഒരു വയലിന്റത്ര തന്നെ ഉയരം ഇല്ല
എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് പ്രവേശനം നിഷേധിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. പിന്നീട് വയലിന്റെ
ചെറിയ രൂപമായ ഫിഡില്
വായിച്ചാണ് പഠനം തുടങ്ങിയത്.
കുറച്ചു വലുതായി കഴിഞ്ഞാണ് വയലിന് പഠിക്കാന്
സ്കൂളില് ചേരാന് കഴിഞ്ഞത്. വെറും
പത്തു വയസായിരുന്നപ്പോള് തന്നെ
പൊതുജനങ്ങള്ക്കുവേണ്ടി ടെല്
അവീവില് വെച്ച് ആദ്യത്തെ വയലിന് കച്ചേരി
നടത്തി.
1958
ല് അമേരിക്കയില് ന്യൂ യോറ്ക്കിലെ ജൂലിയാര്ഡ്
പബ്ലിക് സ്കൂളില് പഠിക്കാന് ചേര്ന്നു. അവിടെ ഇവാന് ഗലാമിന്, ഡൊറോത്തി ഡിലേയ് എന്നീ ലോക
പ്രശസ്തരായ അദ്ധ്യാപകരുടെ കീഴില്
പരിശീലനം നേടാന് കഴിഞ്ഞു. ആ വര്ഷം
തന്നെ ഇഷ്ടാക് അമേരിക്കന് ദേശീയ ടെലിവിഷനിലെ
എഡ് സള്ളിവന് ഷോയില്
പങ്കെടുത്തു. 1963 ല്
ന്യൂയോറ്ക്കിലെ കാര്ണഗീ മെലന് ഹാളില് ആദ്യത്തെ
കച്ചേരി നടത്താന് കഴിഞ്ഞു.
അതോടോപ്പം പ്രശസ്തമായ ലെവെന്റ്രിറ്റ് സമ്മാനത്തിനു അര്ഹനായി. ദീര്ഘമായ കച്ചേരി
നടത്തുന്നതിനോടൊപ്പം ഇസ്ര്യയേലിലെ
ക്ലാസിക്കല് ന് ന്രുത്ത സംഗീത രൂപമായ
ക്ലെസ്മാര് അദ്ദേഹം
അവതരിപ്പിക്കുമായിരുന്നു. ജാസ് സംഘങ്ങളുടെ
കൂടെയും ചിലപ്പോള് വയലില്
വായിച്ചു. ജോണ് വില്യമിന്റെ ഒസ്കാര്
അവാര്ഡു വാങ്ങിയ ചലച്ചിത്രമായ ഷിന്ദ്ലെര്സ് ലിസ്റ്റ്
(schnildlers list) എന്ന ചിത്രത്തില് 1993 ല് തനിച്ച് വയലിന് സംഗീതം അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു.
ഒരു സംഗീത സംഘപ്രമാണി ആയി അദ്ദേഹം ലോകോത്തരമായ
പല ഓര്ക്കെസ്റ്റ്രാ സംഘവുമായും പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. 2001 മുതല്
2005 വരെ ഡെറ്റ്റോയിറ്റ് സിംഫണിയുടെ പ്രധാന സംഗീത പ്രമാണിയായി പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു. 2002 മുതല്
2004 വരെ സെന്റ് ലൂയി സിംഫണിയുടെ
ഉപദേശകനായും പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു .
1998
മുതല് അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ പത്നി ടൊബിയോടൊപ്പം എന്നും ഒരു വയലിന് അദ്ധ്യാപകനായിത്തന്നെ തുടരുന്നു. പ്രതിഭയുള്ള തന്ത്രിവാദ്യം (string
instruments)പഠിക്കാന്
താല്പര്യം ഉള്ള 12നും 18നും
ഇടയില് വയസ്സുള്ള കുട്ടികളെ സഹായിക്കാന് പേള്മാന് മ്യൂസിക് പ്രോഗ്രാം
എന്ന പരിപാടി നടത്തുന്നു. പേള്മാന് 1977 നും 1995 നും
ഇടയില് 15 ഗ്രാമി അവാര്ഡുകള്ക്ക് അര്ഹനായി. 2008 ല് അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു
ആജീവനാന്ത സംഭാവനക്കുള്ള അംഗീകാരവും കിട്ടി. 1996 ലെ അമേരിക്കന് ഫ്രീഡം
മെഡലിനും ദേശീയ മെഡല് ഒഫ്
ആര്ട്ട്സ് (2015) , കെന്നഡി കേന്ദ്രത്തിന്റെ സമ്മാനത്തിനും 2015 ലെ
പ്രസിഡണ്ടിന്റെ സുവര്ണ മെഡലിനും
അര്ഹനായി. 2015 ല് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ജീവിതത്തെ
ആസ്പദമാക്കി ഇഷ്ടാക് എന്ന ഒരു ഡോക്കുമെന്ററി ഉണ്ടാക്കി .
